Troop Outdoor Events Program
Annual Planning Meeting:

Every August we hold a Planning Meeting to plan the next Scouting year's program of outdoor events.

This activity is coordinated by the Outdoor Coordinator, Scoutmaster and SPL. All Troop Scouts and parents are encouraged to attend to help plan the outdoor events for the next year (from October to the following September).

Scouts and parents are encouraged to propose ideas for camping & other activities. Some investigation pre-work is highly desirable, descriptions, photos, costs and other details of proposed events help determine feasibility & desirability. Look for logistics for submitting ideas and photos etc from the Outdoor Coordinator/Scoutmaster.

Scouts get to vote to select from the list of eligible activities. Note that certain items have pre-defined locations/dates (Camp Geronimo, Fast Start) and we have certain numbers of backpack and car camping trips we are targeting to accomplish.

However most activities, details and destinations are open for selection.

We always like to strike a balance between old favorites and new experiences. Our target is a balanced program of events with at least one outdoor activity per monthly and a total of 10 or more camping events.

This meeting is also a great opportunity for Parents to sign-up as organizers, drivers, helpers, co-leaders or leaders for outdoor events.

We like as much adult participation as possible and encourage you to prepare to organize/lead outdoor activities via driving to events, participation and co-leadership steps. The outdoor coordinator will help you with additional logistical support and training the troop provides for outdoor leaders.

Please do plan to attend!

Note - Some of our events don't include overnight camping and yet still have organizational requirements (e.g. Indoor Rock Climbing). These activities may provide opportunities to support the Troop's activities program for parents who don't want to camp or who cannot travel far away from home due to siblings/work commitments etc.
