Scoutcraft - Key Scout Skills:

Some Scout skills are a part of everyday Scouting and show up at the Board of Review for most ranks.. so its always good to practice these. These would form very good patrol activities as refreshers! Other Scout skills can help you be a better camper & hiker.

The traditional Scouting word used for many of these skills is 'Scoutcraft'.

Here are some sub-pages of our own creation on the following Topics (Scouts & parents we are looking for more!) - Click the buttons to the left.

Our Topics:

Knots - learn all the basics and some of the variations. Stretch yourself with one handed techniques and learn what the knots are used for. See the animated knot guides!

Map & Compass use - always a challenging area to remember for every rank - become an expert!

Water Safety - learn the Safe Swim Defense and the Safety Afloat guidelines and reminder acronyms

Hiking - quick how to guide - there's more to it... especially as the trail and your backpack's weight both go up!

10 Outdoor Essentials - If you take nothing else along - take these - Be Prepared!

The Boy Scouts of America 'Fieldbook' (available at Scoutshops) is a good resource for Scoutcraft - it goes beyond the Scout Handbook content in many areas.

Scoutmasters, Parents and Senior Scouts - I am looking for help to develop these 'Scoutcraft' pages with additional materials - please see the Help Needed page for topic areas (or propose some of your own). You do not need to be a web expert - only a content area expert, please contact me with your ideas.
