Parent Volunteer Opportunities: All Boy Scout Troops rely on volunteers to operate, and our Troop is no different... When you first join you may see lots of adults involved and things may seem to already run smoothly. However parental involvement in the Troop usually only last about as long as a Scout's involvement and this creates a constant state of change - since even Scouts that continue all the way to Eagle rank usually only stay in the Troop for about 5 years... Thus every year we need to recruit new volunteers to help and prepare to take over key roles in support of the Troop. We usually do not request new parents to get involved immediately - allowing them chance to get to know the Troop, a chance to observe what is needed and figure out the best individual way to get involved and meanwhile also a chance for your son to decide if Scouting is a good fit for him (we hope so). Once you have been with the Troop for about 6 months we hope you will know if your son intends to stay and will have become familiar enough with Troop operations to start helping out in some capacity. If you are ready to do this sooner - wonderful - we have many ways to keep you busy! We will hold an Annual Parents Meeting in October/November and this will identify open volunteer roles. You can also volunteer help at any time - contact the Scoutmaster & Troop Committee members for near term projects needing help. Below are the major general areas we usually need help, if you have special skills you think would help in some other areas than those below talk to the Scoutmasters or committee officers about this!
