Committee Chair

Job Description Outline:

Duties:

  •  Organize the committee to see that all functions are delegated, coordinated and completed
  •  Maintain a close relationship with the chartered organization representative
  •  Interpret national and local policies to the troop
  •   Call preside over and propose attendance at monthly Troop committee meetings and any special meetings that may be called
  •  Prepare Troop committee meeting agendas & send out meeting notices/invites
  •  Ensure Troop representation at monthly district roundtables
  •  Secure top-notch, trained individuals for camp leadership
  •  Arrange for charter review and renewal annually
  •  Plan the charter presentation
  •  Ensure the Troop meets BSA guidelines for Adult Leader/Volunteer Training*
  •  Support & manage the activities of the Training Coordinator if staffed*

* These duties may be covered by the Training Coordinator if this role is staffed. Since the Committee Chair still bears the ultimate responsibility for these duties they will provide oversight/guidance for the Training Coordinator.

Holder of this Officer Role cannot concurrently hold any other Troop Committee Officer Role (except Charter Organization Representative) also cannot hold a concurrent role as a Scoutmaster or Assistant Scoutmaster
