Troop Email & Web Usage

In Troop 278 we use email distribution lists and this website extensively for timely reminders and reference information respectively. 

We do understand that not everybody has or wants full time access to email or the worldwide web. However we do rely on email for routine Troop communication and the Troop website is a great resources for Scouting & Troop information and serves as a repository for previous emails, flyers, trip reports, forms and reference material and links. 

Whilst we do also announce all activities at regular Troop meetings and have a printable calendar & event flyers etc these will usually be provided only at quite short notice before events or on request. Patrol leaders should also be contacting their patrols about regular Troop meeting details - however these communications may not always be effective.

We do encourage you to try to get access to Troop materials either via email or the website. Even an occasional use of a personal computer - say at school or the library can provide you access to the reference materials and free web based emails (e.g. Google's gmail or Microsoft's hotmail).

Alternatively maybe you can arrange for another Scout family to provide you with printed copies of at least the monthly Troop newsletters.

Even if you have no access to email or the website we would still like you to complete the web approval form since it covers permissions for the inclusion of other contact information (e.g. phone numbers) for when your son takes on a leadership position in the Troop and also for the publications of photos of Troop activities.
